Sweet Potato Pie

Flower Power Chocolate Cookie by Paula Deen – Blast from the Past



Jamie and Brooke Deen join Paula in the kitchen to make a flower power chocolate cookie. This is a fun recipe with your kids!

Ingredients
1 cup plus 1/4 cup, softened butter
3 1/2 cups divided confectioner’s sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 1/2 teaspoons divided vanilla extract
6 1-ounce melted and cooled squares bittersweet chocolate
3 cups plus more for dusting all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
4 oz softened cream cheese
1 splash if needed milk

Preperation
1. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup butter, 1 cup confectioners’ sugar, and granulated sugar. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until fluffy.

2. Beat in the egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Gradually add the chocolate to the butter mixture, beating until combined.

3. In a medium bowl, combine the flour and baking soda. Gradually add to the sugar mixture, beating until combined. Divide the dough in half. Press each half into a 10-inch disk, wrap in heavy-duty plastic wrap, and chill 1 hour.

4. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Using a 2 1/2-inch flower shaped cutter, cut out the dough.

6. Place 1 inch apart on prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10 minutes. Let cool on the pan for 2 minutes. Remove from the pan, and cool completely on wire racks.

7.Pipe or spoon Cream Cheese Flower Center Frosting onto center of each cookie. Sprinkle with sprinkles or sanding sugar, if desired.

Cream Cheese Flower Center Frosting:

1. In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, 1/4 cup butter and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy.

2. Gradually beat in 2 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar until smooth.

Vegan Pimento Cheese Recipe | Dreamy Leaf



This incredibly easy plant cheese recipe features a wonderfully rich cheese flavor complemented perfectly by the sweet and aromatic pimiento pepper. Definitely on of my favorite cheeses now. Here is the full recipe:

Ingredients:
2 cups raw cashews (soaked at least 3 hours or 1 hour in hot water, drained)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
1/4 teaspoon smijed paprika
1 teaspoon salt
4 oz jar of pimiento peppers (separate)

Steps:
1. Put all the ingredients in the blender, using half (2oz) of the pimiento peppers
2. Blend until smooth
3. Transfer to a blow and mix in the rest of the pimiento peppers
4. Let rest in the fridge for 24 hours

Apple Pie Fries | Delish

INGREDIENTS

3 c. apples, peeled, cored, and finely chopped
Juice of 1 lemon
2 c. water
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. cornstarch
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon
Pinch kosher salt
2 Eggs, beaten
2 tbsp. Sanding sugar
Caramel, for serving

DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350 and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl, squeeze lemon juice on apples to keep them from browning.
3. In a medium sauce pan over medium heat, combine water with brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, vanilla and kosher salt. Whisk until fully combined.
4. Add apples to the pan and bring mixture to a boil, stirring frequently. Cook until apples are tender, about 10 minutes. Set aside to cool.
5. Spread one pie crust out on prepared baking sheet. Spread apple mixture onto pie crust, and top with a second pie crust.
6. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar. Using a pizza cutter, cut into fry shapes.
7. Bake for 20 minutes, until crust is golden. Serve with caramel for dipping.
